South Okanagan / Similkameen
The South Okanagan / Similkameen covers a vast and ecologically diverse region in the southern half of British Columbia. Small communities are snuggled in the mountainous valleys and towns are dotted along the shorelines of some of Canada’s best lakeside beaches.
The South Okanagan / Similkameen is both urban and rural. What binds the city folks, ranchers, orchardists and farmers together is the celebration of the natural resources, amenities and recreation opportunities that the region is famous for. The Hoodoo bluffs and Okanagan Lake connect Summerland and Penticton; Skaha and Osoyoos lakes, and world renowned vineyards connect the communities of Osoyoos, Oliver, Okanagan Falls and Kaleden. The serpentine flow of the Similkameen River running west to east, drifts past the communities of Princeton, Hedley, and Keremeos.
In 2016, the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan / Similkameen partnered with Vancouver Foundation and the City of Penticton to offer the Neighbourhood Small Grants for the first time.
Applications are now open, with a deadline of Friday 28 April.
