These workshops were offered at Gordon Neighbourhood House on two Wednesday evenings in June 2013.

Participants felt lighter and energized after leaving the class. Grant recipient, Brenda Basco Hopkins, hopes to offer her classes on a more regular basis at Gordon Neighbourhood House or the West End Community Centre. 

June 16 2013

Students from Lord Strathcona Elementary School made a banner for the book swap with the help of their teachers. Each flag on the banner celebrates a child's favourite book.

February 26 2014

I just wanted to forward you some pictures of our block party that took place this past Saturday! We had a great turnout with around 75 people at one point! It was a great community effort where everyone brought a dish or something to contribute. Here are some photos that one our neighbours took for us too. Thank you again on behalf of the Port Royal community for the grant!

June 3 2013

What do you do with a rotting wooden planter on the boulevard? Mike & Brian applied for and received a Neighbourhood Small Grant to build a raised edible garden around it.

Heading off to Home Depot one Sunday morning they bought the supplies & began construction. The roots of the 2 large trees caused a bit of a problem but another neighbour donated bricks & cement to level the ground. Many neighbours stopped by to help and plant.

May 4 2013

The Bees on the Drive event occurred on May 4th of 2013. The project leaders had the following to say: "Everyone arrived with their own personal story of what had brought them to be interested in bees and beekeeping. Many people have gardens, know other beekeepers, are concerned for the health and wellness of the bees or want to start a small business.
