Rooted in the storytelling traditions of Java, Indoneia, wayang kulit (shadow puppet) shares wisdom, life lessons and positive values. Many of the stories are adapted from the famous Hindu epic. the Mahabharata. This play that will be performed “Abimanyu’s First Challenge”, depicts the challenges faced by a prince in facing temptation in his early life. We are fortunate in having Anthonius Hardono as dalang, a puppeteer in way an performance, who grew up in the heart of Javanese culture and was taught by his father to master this traditional skill from an early age.

This is our Annual Neighbourhood Small Grants and Greenest City NSG Celebration in South Vancouver and Collingwood. All 2014 Grant recipients will receive an invitation to join us for an evening of recognition and celebration of all the projects completed over this past year. This is also our opportunity to recognize the volunteer resident advisory committee members in each of the neighbourhoods who reviewed and awarded the funding to an array of projects in 2014.
