A book club to develop ties among neighbours, expose the participants to new books, and promote local writers. The Club’s aim is to discuss books with a friendly and open-minded group of people. We buy copies of of the local authors’ books, share them, and after the meeting we donate the books to the neighbourhood street libraries.
Join us for our second book presentation Monday, September 29 @ 7 PM in Kitsilano.
Our guest author for this meeting is George K. Ilsley and we’ll be reading his novel ManBug.
About the book ManBug: Sebastian is an entomologist with Asperger’s syndrome who is obsessed with insects, but now he is learning about the “world of men” with Tom, a dyslexic bisexual Buddhist, as his somewhat unreliable guide. ManBug is the humorous story of an eccentric love affair and explores the meaning of labels, what is in our hearts, and what gets under our skin.
George K. Ilsley is the author of the short fiction collection, Random Acts of Hatred, and the novel, ManBug, both published by Arsenal Pulp Press. His short fiction, prose poetry and creative non-fiction have been published in journals and anthologies such as Prairie Fire, EVENT, First Person Queer, West Coast Line and White Wall Review. Originally from Nova Scotia, he lives and works in Vancouver and can be found online at http://www.thatwriter.ca.
