We held three sessions of craft days. Crafts included Salish weaving to make red and white woven bookmarks and white bandanas printed with Canada Day 150 emblems of maple leaves or animals to personalize the bandanas. All participants received a bandana, and the children got Frisbees and craft supplies to take home.
The neighbourhood party was a lane party with lots of food and fun. We gave notices to all the neighbours in our area and translated the notice also in Chinese. It is a diverse neighbourhood and there are some newcomers who we met through this initiative. The lane party was for three hours but it lasted for four hours as people just stayed to mingle and chat!
