October 27 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm: Author Readings and Book talks

Wherever I Find Myself: Stories by Canadian Immigrant Women, edited by Miriam Matejova
This anthology is by twenty four immigrant women who share their experiences and reminisce pieces of their lives in different countries and corners of the globe.

In the words of Miriam, “My vision was to offer a collection that exposes the immigrant experience as it truly is — filled not only with hope and gratitude but also with the sense of loneliness, alienation and disconnection from one’s old home.”
This is a free event suitable for adults interested in literary discussions and cultural exploration. Light refreshments will be provided. Some members of the Culture Chats Book Club will also share their reflections.

The Culture Chats Book Club meets once a month to read and discuss international stories based in diverse cultures and contexts. In the words of one Book Club member, “Culture Chats has given me the wonderful opportunity to read books I would not necessarily have chosen myself and to discuss them with a group who also love sharing the thoughts and experiences the book brought to them. I come away with new perspectives and that’s a good feeling.”
