         ~~Free Beginners EL Wire Workshop~~

Let there be light!  Around the holidays, as the days grow shorter and darker, the West End will be experiencing a luminous November/December.  WEArts will be holding a free El Wire workshop on November 9th from 12 to 3pm at GNH to harmonize with the West End BIA’s plans to have local artists perform around their Lumiere Festival, Dec. 11-13th.

Andrea Arnot will introduce you to the world of electroluminescence (El Wire), a thin, flexible tube, battery-powered that is sown to garments or attached to any accessories or equipment.  Imagine & create your own unique glow-in-the-dark clothing or playful accessories that will illuminate the wintry days of December.

Andrea is a local WE resident & community project manager.  On weekends you may have seen Andrea & her group of friends in costume lighting up the evening horizon at English Bay or at elaborate theme parties or other wacky events around Vancouver.  She loves to make her costumes light up in fun colors & patterns.

Whether it’s for yourself or friend or family member, if it flashes, glows, shines, or otherwise emits light, we want you to explore the use of el wire as an innovative & creative medium – be intrigued & excited to see what would transpire and then we want you to shine at the West End Lumiere Festival, Dec. 11-13th!  We’ll capture your masterpiece in a digital image for you to admire.

We will provide the El Wire kit & batteries, supplies & sample el wire wearables.  You will bring your creative mind, design ideas & 1 item to decorate.

Limited capacity of 20, therefore, register NOW for this workshop at WEArts.ca
