General Gordon Elementary School at 2896 West 6th Avenue is being replaced by a new, seismically-safe building due to open in September 2016.
On Saturday, June 7, 2014 there will be a ‘Goodbye Gordon’ celebration, inviting current students, alumni and the general community for one last opportunity to visit the 102-year-old school building.
One of the many activities that day will include a giant chalk mural on the outside of the school walls and pavement, allowing children and adults of all ages a chance to share their memories and create something beautiful. Face painting by volunteers will also add to the beauty of the day.
