Food, fun and frolic will be the order of the day – with BBQ, music, a chance to learn about, and walk the beautiful labyrinth, and get to know your neighbours – mark your calendars and please, please join us from noon until 4pm on Sunday, September 20.
This will be an event to draw the residents in the surrounding area and encourage all Richmond residents to attend a celebration at the labyrinth.
This is the perfect outdoor venue to gather local residents of all ages to join together and learn about a wonderful tool that brings people together and get to know their neighbours. This celebration will provide impetus to share our love and knowledge of labyrinths and encourage a multi-cultural neighbourhood event that will help make people in the area more comfortable and receptive and familiar with their backyard.
What is a labyrinth? A labyrinth is a walking meditation tool that promotes meditation, quiet, balance and insight. Labyrinths are used in celebration, in uniting community and supporting mental health. Walking meditation is an efficient way to provide calm and encourage relaxation and bring people together.
The first step is to introduce and create awareness for this beautiful labyrinth and encourage people in the neighbourhood to return again and again. The labyrinth is open 24/7 and everyone is welcome to enjoy this venue at any time. We are excited to plan this event, to meet, to greet, to learn, to play to practice and develop an event that will provide a great meeting place for future interaction, gatherings and community events.
The labyrinth is located outside at the north end of the St Alban Church property – 7260 St Albans Road, Richmond.
Flyers will be posted and distributed in the surrounding neighbourhood closer to date and notices will be included in local papers.
