Although the City of Richmond is becoming increasingly urbanized and densified, people are defying expectations and are growing food in our city.
Our project will explore the diversity of people and the places and spaces where they grow food. We hope to photograph people and their gardens—be it a windowsill, a balcony, an apartment, a townhouse, a shared community garden, or a home garden.
Our goal is to bring these ‘neighbours’ together to celebrate their successes and to build on the growing awareness of food security, climate change and rising food costs. We want to inspire and engage the public at large with these photos and this exhibit.
A wrap up potluck of local garden goods will take place on August 14th for those who register. The photo exhibit/slideshow will be shown at Branscombe House the week of August 14–20, 2016.
