Making a collaborative community blanket is a process-oriented project with a focus on the social practice of art along with the product. We will begin to understand initial ideas and community values by asking participants the questions, “What is your idea for your community?”, “What are the similarities and differences in culture?”, and “What part of culture and history do you identify with?” Then, we collaboratively design a community blanket based on our dialogue with a stronger understanding of our community, with the harmony of color and design. The Musqueam weaver, Debra Sparrow, will teach and guide participants how to weave using weaving loom and other weaving techniques.

Please come join!  Starts at 5:30pm until 8pm at Kerrisdale Communty Centre Rm222 (5851 W. BLVD)! Please note that we are filming the project throughout.
