2nd ANNUAL WEST END YOUTH “ART JAM”
Date: Sunday, June 15, 2014
Event: Car Free Day Vancouver – West End
Location: Denman Street between Haro & Barclay
in front of King George High School
Time: 12 noon to 5pm
___________________________________________________________
The WE Youth Art Jam will be partnering with WEBIA and WEArts at Car Free Day on June 15th to engage youth in the creation of art & music with their community and announce the forthcoming King George Secondary School Centennial Celebration on October 3rd & 4th of this year.
We will have an art table where the King George students & alumni, along with the public, can create their own original piece of art or write a story or poem to celebrate what they love about their school and/or living in the West End.
We will also have a “Speakers’ Corner”, an opportunity to be seen and heard, to sing a song, tell a story, read a poem you just wrote about the West End, etc. There will be featured performers and a special guest, Edwin Coppard, who will be conducting a workshop on “Discovering your real voice”. Anthony Robbins says, “Edwin is a Master at drawing out your natural voice & bringing people together through singing”. Local children’s author Amber Marie Williams will be reading from her new book, “Rinny Rinpoche”.
The King George 100th Anniversary Reunion Committee will be present to give out information on the reunion and an opportunity to register and get involved with both the reunion and the West End Memories Project (westendmemories.org)
Please pass this invitation on to students, alumni, media, and community members we may not have been able to reach yet.
