We continue to offer Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grants to anyone who lives in BC throughout 2021.
Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) provides grants of up to $500 for projects that connect people socially or involve sharing skills or talents with each other. Projects must stay within guidelines for physical distancing.
And yes, a grant means you don’t need to pay back this funding — no matter the outcome.
Anyone who lives in BC can apply for a Neighbourhood Small Grant. Find out what kinds of projects you can receive a grant for.
For many, this is the first grant people are applying for. Most start off with a general idea of what they want to do but wonder how to put the details down on paper. Or they might be unsure if what they’re doing is allowed. Be sure to read through the Eligibility & FAQs page first before submitting your application.
Remember — grant requests can be for up to $500 per project. If your project involves skill-sharing, you may pay out an honorarium of up to $350.
Once you’ve decided on your idea, here’s what to expect.

Volunteers from your community review applications as they are submitted. This can take up to two weeks.

Photos, screen grabs, and other documentation of your project will help to inspire more people like you to get started.
We find these tend to be popular ideas among first-time applicants. They can be easily organized with two people, are low cost, and excite neighbours.
Teach others how to craft, build, or speak a new language. We all have something to offer.
Invite people to celebrate or heal together.
Make someone's day by delivering care packages or helping them get something they need.
These are just ideas to get you started. Make them yours, or do something else altogether. Your creativity is what makes NSG what it is!
