The weather could not have been more perfect. Clear blue skies, crisp autumn temperatures and colourful leaves graced the Fall Fest venue in Steveston.
For two months, 6 – 10 key volunteers of all ages met regularly to plan and create fun activities for children. They included a cup cake walk, an angel photo shoot, a fish pond, face painting, sidewalk chalk drawing, button making, hat making, a corn hole game, bubble blowing, giant jengo and a good old fashioned fire pit with marshmellows.
So many attended with their children and both young and old had a wonderfully fun time. Many kids made more than one button with decorations like superheros and animals, and two children never left the bubble location for an hour. Teens mingled with senior citizens, small children with adults who were not their parents. But not only the young enjoyed themselves; several fathers sat around the campfire, relaxing and getting to know each other in a quieter atmosphere.
A very big thank you for the NSG for their generosity which made a happy neighbourhood event happen.
