For promoting my project, I designed a poster and had posters up in Judy Darcy’s office, BC housing seniors house, Royal City Centre and Seniors Services Society. On Friday June 27, I rented out the picnic shelter in Lower Hume Park and invited all the seniors in New Westminster to come for BBQ and Bingo in the park. We provided free hotdogs, burgers, salads, fruits, coffee teas and water for everyone. We also had MLA Judy Darcy sponsored us with a cake. With Bingo games and door prizes, which donated by Save-On-Foods and MP Peter Julian, we gave out 5 prizes to the seniors on the event day. Thank you to Vancouver Foundation, MLA Judy Darcy, MP Peter Julian, Save-On-Foods (Westminster Centre) and Queen’s Park Pet Hospital, we showed our respect and appreciation to our seniors to our community in New Westminster.

Neighbourhood Small Grants

We believe the best people to effect change in a community are the ones within it. And when we can make money less of an issue in doing so, it allows so many more kinds of ideas to shine.
