After sending out an invitation to join-in to the local garden/plant groupsas well as to the general public on social media, we all gathered on one of the very few sunny days we had this Spring and shared with other plants, tools, equipment, seeds and all kinds of plants. We had flowers, vegetables, succulents, herbs and houseplants. Example of plants &/or seeds that were purchased for this event: Herbs: parsley, dill, basil, thyme, chamomile, oregano, nasturtium Vegetables (some a variety of each): lettuce/leafy greens, beans, peas, cucumbers, kale, swiss chard, tomatoes, peppers, squash, spinach, green onions, Flowers: petunias, lobelias, coleus, marigolds/several varieties, snap dragons, verbena I encouraged everyone to bring what they had to share that was garden or plant-related indoor and outdoor. The response was fantastic!! As everyone arrived and unload what goodies they brought we spread items out amongst all the other items that were purchased with the Grant Funds. It reminded me of Forest Grump famous saying “My mama always said, life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get”. This was so true and so many went home with so many goodies to plant and reap the rewards in the Fall. We also had in attendance some very experienced gardeners that were very knowledgeable and helped out with questions of all kinds. With Covid-19 Pandemic still very much around I encourage everyone to wear a mask even though we are outside but it was not mandatory. Was an extremely, fun-filled and successful event.
