The Northern Way Housing Co-op held a community barbecue in the courtyard of our complex on June 27th of this year.
It was a wonderful gathering for our co-op and our neighbours. The weather cooperated nicely with a burst of sunshine after a rain.
One of our co-op members, Edmund Nesling, generously played music for the full four hours, emphasizing the celebratory atmosphere of the gathering.
There were burgers, hot dogs, and veggie dogs cooked up by our Community Spirit Committee, including gluten-free options, as well as salads provided by the generosity of the grant. Community members also brought dishes to share. Kids enjoyed games and playing in the courtyard and at the park adjacent to our co-op. There were craft activities, including melty beads, drawing and face painting, which the kids enjoyed especially. People got to relax and enjoy each other’s company, solidifying a healthy, happy gathering. Thanks to the Neighbourhood Small Grants, our community and neighbours have a wonderful shared memory to look back upon.
