Building our Free Little Library was such a fun and rewarding experience for my sister, my dad, and me. After seeing how much our neighborhood embraced the last one we made, we were excited to build a new and improved version—one that can hold more books, will last longer, and features personal touches from our neighbors.
The opening day for the new Little Library went even better than we imagined! Our vision was to bring out the library and invite everyone to paint on it—adding whatever they wanted so that it would truly feel like a community project. It turned out amazing! We had multiple people stop by throughout the morning to add their own artwork, and two young girls stayed with us for most of the day, helping us cover the entire library in beautiful colors and designs.
It was such a joy to hear people’s stories about the books they planned to add or the ones they’d already enjoyed from the old library. All in all, it was a fantastic morning, and we’re so excited to see our new Free Little Library up and running for everyone to enjoy.
