On August 3rd, 2024, Beaverdell celebrated the re-opening of our ball field with a Community Baseball game and BBQ! The event was very well attended with Roughly 25 players and 50+ spectators coming and going throughout the day.
The weather was hot, so the Beaverdell Fire Department kept us cool with their new trucks and water between innings. We think it’s fair to say that the highlight of the day was standing under the sprinkle of the big hose!
We faced the challenge of BBQing on site, since insurance did not allow it. It was great to have local business support and the Fire Department rally together to make sure the food was prepared and could be served at the event! They did a great job making sure everyone was fed and hydrated.
With the history of Baseball running as far back as 60 years on this field, we were so happy to rekindle the desire to continue having fun playing ball and making memories as a community! Since this event took place, others have been inspired to have additional community games, as well as, future T-Ball practices for local kids. Many community members expressed interest in making this an annual event, which is exciting to hear!
Thank you to All the volunteers and Neighbourhood Small Grants for making this event possible. As small towns face a lack of resources and the threat of big town ideas, it’s great that we can still bring home the small town experiences that make us unique while offering opportunities for people to come together and have a lot of fun and laughs while doing it!
