Kootenay Boundary Story
Our block party was a huge success. Saturday September 7th was a perfect Grand Forks day – 32 degrees and sunny! We had 2 volunteers cooking up meat and veggie patties on the barbecue and the buffet table offered several bun options, condiments and toppings. Veggie platters and dips were on offer, donated by 2 generous neighbours as well as potato chips. A large platter of sweets was put out at the end of the meal.
Thirty neighbours attended in person, and 4 meals were sent home to people who could not attend. It appeared everyone had a nice time chatting with neighbours and friends, and even meeting the 8 people who were at their very first block party!
We received many compliments on the Gourmet burgers we purchased from Granby Meats, and that was possible with the grant money we received from the Phoenix Foundation. We also had 2 games which was new for us. People had fun guessing how many jelly beans were in the glass jar and 3 lucky people got an authentic Grand Forks chocolate bar from Lucky Pheasant Chocolate if they had a number written on the bottom of their plate.
Thank you very much to the Phoenix Foundation and the NSG program.
Thank you so much for your help with the process, Trudy. Looking forward to next year!
