Kootenay Boundary Event

“Harvest & Equinox was an event to celebrate the deep roots and shared history of Indigenous peoples, including First Nations, Metis, and Inuit, alongside the area’s traditions of forestry, railroads, and ranching in Midway.

The event, held on September 21, 2024, was hosted at the historic Old Court House, built in 1989, with the generous support of the Midway Senior Centre (MSC). The afternoon included drumming, dancing, and singing, creating a vibrant atmosphere of connection and celebration.

A highlight of the event was the promotion of the Entwined Trees and the Gateway (Stekthal) Learning Circle, a powerful creation by David Seven Deers. The Learning Circle symbolizes a gateway to the world, to learning, community, and mutual understanding, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the gathering. The event brought together people from all walks of life, strengthening the bonds that tie the community together.
