Thanks to the Small Neighbourhood Grant, our group was able to have another incredibly successful event this year. As noted in our request, our hope was to add more child-friendly attractions this year. Our wish came true in the form of a Giant inflatable obstacle course. The kids absolutely LOVED it! Despite the cooler weather that day, we had even more families turn up this year, likely due to this very eye-catching attraction. Similar to last year, we had a: potluck, cake walk and music for the attendees. This year we offered adult games too which was much appreciated.
From this event our social media following has grown to over 100 members and our hope is to increase the number of gatherings our volunteer groups hosts each year. We also would like to offer games and food options that may attract a more diverse group of families next year. Although we did see some diversity in our attendees, we did notice some families leaving because there weren’t enough familiar food options for themselves and their kids. This is an area we need to improve on.
