Let’s turn a long, forested road on Gabriola Island into a stronger community with a spectacular daffodil showing in the spring! Neighbours were invited to a potluck with a daffodil bulb giveaway. The greater community was also included as bulbs were purchased with grant money from the local nursery for distribution.
One neighbour volunteered to host the event on their property, with about 40 individuals participating on a gorgeous late summer day. Although a bit challenging to spread the word, people loved the idea and enjoyed meeting new neighbours.
Wheelbarrow Nursery generously provided a at cost purchase price. Each household received about 30 bulbs to plant and more were randomly planted along the roadway, as well as some were left in bags at the main mailboxes for individuals unable to participate. Can’t wait for spring now!
