In August 2025 we planned a work-party at the Prince Rupert Wildlife Rehabilitation Shelter to help take care of the many animals that are housed there. We invited local community members through a Facebook event and posts in community groups and we had an excellent turnout of volunteers! We used the funds to pay for screws and nails, hoses, soap and scrub brushes, wood, and coffee and donuts for the volunteers. Even though the weather was not ideal, we accomplished so much! We cut the grass, pruned trees, weeded the gardens, painted the outside of enclosures, cleaned litter boxes, washed buckets, totes and kennels and more! We had such a great response that we decided to continue to do work parties on a monthly basis! We have set up a facebook group for volunteers, and then we create an event for each specific work-party day. We have done this for four months now and we plan to continue in 2026! We are so grateful for the support of this grant to help get this project off the ground!
