The Cheakamus Crossing WHA had a wonderful evening connecting with neighbours and community members through art.
I applied for the NSG through the Whistler Community Foundation as I noticed how many more neighbours I have met since adopting my dog over 2 years ago and how in having a fur baby I have felt more connected in my own neighbourhood. I wanted to share that feeling of connectedness with my neighbours in organizing an event where pet owners could connect through painting their own fur babies. On Nov 15th, 8 neighbours gathered at Art Pop, a local studio in Creekside, and through the guidance of Andrea Mueller, a local artist and small business owner, learnt how to paint their pets. A highlight of this event was to connect with neighbours who had feline friends as you do not typically see them out on dog walks. Event participants were stoked to be part of the activity and ideas were shared for future community gatherings.
The event was an ENORMOUS success.
