Arrowhead Clubhouse is a place where members living with mental health challenges can come together to learn skills, get support and build relationships in a safe, stigma-free environment. At the centre of this community is the Garden where a dedicated team of Arrowhead members meet to manage the garden through decision making, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, pruning, fertilizing etc. The physical act of gardening, along with the opportunity to be in a garden, offers immense benefits for well-being and for community building. In addition, the food grown in the garden makes its way into the kitchen where free hot lunches are offered 5 days a week to anyone in the Sechelt community. Additionally, flowers make their way onto the dining table and into people’s homes and residences. Several garden beds contain small memorials for those who we have loved and those who we have lost.
In 2025 the garden team continued to nurture the veggie and herb garden alongside the native plant and pollinator beds. We harvested radishes, garlic, lettuce, peas, beans, potatoes, rhubarb, strawberries, dill, thyme, basil, lavender, rosemary, and mint. In the fall, we selected and planted fruit trees dreaming of delicious harvests. The flowering peach, gooseberry, cherry, as well as our native Pacific serviceberry, aka Saskatoon berry, will also offer springtime forage for our bees and other wild pollinators.
The Arrowhead Clubhouse is also filled with artists and creators who visit the garden for peace and inspiration. Sharing perspectives and observations deepens our understanding of the garden and the natural cycles that shape us all.
