This project was a three-session small-group workshop created to support mothers who are feeling overwhelmed by the noise and expectations that often come with parenting. The idea grew out of ongoing conversations with mothers who shared that they felt disconnected from their own values and intuition, and were looking for space to slow down, reflect, and feel less alone.
The workshop was intentionally designed as a three-part arc. Session One focused on identifying personal values and what matters most to each participant in their mothering. Session Two explored old narratives and external pressures, helping participants quiet outside voices and reconnect with their own intuition. Session Three brought everything together by guiding participants to create a personal “mothering mantra” and identify small, realistic steps they could take to ease their daily burden.
The series was offered as group coaching, with a maximum of twelve participants to keep the space supportive and conversational. Participants were recruited through community connections and social media, and included mothers at different stages of parenting. One challenge was navigating busy and unpredictable schedules, so each session was designed to stand on its own while still contributing to the larger experience. This made it easier for participants to stay engaged even if they missed a session.
Through this project, I learned how powerful it can be to simply create space for mothers to listen to themselves and one another. Participants consistently shared that being able to question expectations, speak honestly, and feel heard helped them feel lighter and more grounded. The workshop reinforced the value of small, intentional gatherings and showed that meaningful shifts can happen even in a short series when trust and care are centred.
