Our event included several different components, including performances, game booths, food sharing, a fire truck tour, and a Community Booth.
One initiative I would especially like to highlight is our Community Connect Team, which we established before the event. The team’s role was to warmly welcome participants, engage them in conversation, and help them feel connected. More importantly, they took time to listen and learn about people’s daily lives—whether they were facing challenges, celebrating joys, or simply sharing their experiences within the community.
We were encouraged to hear many meaningful stories from participants. These conversations reminded us that community events are not only about providing fun activities but also about building relationships and understanding the needs of our neighbours.
We hope to host this event again next year and continue serving not only our local neighbourhood but also the multicultural and multigenerational community throughout Vancouver.
