Enjoy Better Life: A Successful Community Workshop
The “Enjoy Better Life” workshop was successfully held on June 30, 2026, at Killarney Community Centre, with sixteen participants registered for the event. The workshop went very well and successfully achieved all of the project’s goals.
The event aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of how to age well and enjoy life. The speaker shared valuable information and practical ideas about active and healthy aging, while also encouraging participants to openly share their challenges, experiences, and successes. The warm and interactive atmosphere inspired many participants and left them feeling more encouraged and positive about their own aging journey.
One participant’s experience particularly highlighted the success and impact of the workshop. He shared that he had been laid off after returning from sick leave. Being close to retirement age, he found it difficult to find another job and had become very stressed and depressed. One day, he saw the poster for the “Enjoy Better Life” project and decided to attend because he hoped the workshop would help “lighten him up” and give him a renewed sense of hope.
During the workshop, he courageously shared his story with the group. He received encouragement and support from both the speaker and other participants. I could see a remarkable change in his expression—from looking sad and discouraged at the beginning to smiling and engaging with others as the workshop progressed.
The impact of the workshop was especially evident at the end of the session. The participant who had arrived feeling stressed and hopeless was now actively connecting with others. He even took the initiative to teach another participant how to do the “Tai Chi Walk.” This was a powerful moment that demonstrated not only his renewed confidence but also his willingness to share his knowledge and support others. Attached please find the photo of Tai Chi Walk.
This experience clearly demonstrated that the “Enjoy Better Life” project achieved more than simply providing information about healthy aging. It created a supportive space where participants could connect, share their experiences, gain encouragement, and rediscover hope and confidence. The positive transformation of this participant was a meaningful example of the project’s success and its positive impact on the community.
