Picnics and weather. Planned the community picnic for mid-July, bought all the supplies but a storm with high winds and rainfall was predicted, and for safety reasons we cancelled the picnic with 24 hours notice. We notified as many people as we could, froze food, donated perishables and rebooked for August. Attendance was around 70 people this year, down from last year, but the date change did complicate things. Picnic achieved the goals of bringing all generations together for play, food and socializing. A neighbour donated a bouncy castle for the children, and another neighbour brought her ever-popular temporary tattoo stand.
