With a Neighbourhood Small Grant, last December Allison and John hosted a virtual party with neighbours in Kelowna. “We were in the midst of a second wave of Covid lock-down measures, and I felt the timing for a virtual dinner was perfect,” explained Allison, a Neighbourhood Small Grants project leader.
“People were excited about it because all Christmas gatherings were cancelled. The chef I hoped for declined to participate and it took me some time to find and arrange someone else. But I did! I found a chef who did this kind of virtual dinner and had previous experience. We booked the date and time and he actually planned the menu too with a Grinchmas theme. John and I bought all the ingredients and delivered them to our “guests” and we had a lot of fun.” Alison and John are already planning the next virtual dinner. “Thank you for the Neighbourhood Small Grant, it was a new virtual-adventure in gathering and connecting”.
