The project was an overwhelming success. The goal of Art to Artist was to help get art supplies into the hands of artists that were impacted by the 2021 & 2022 flooding and fires in Lytton and the Fraser Canyon area. A small but mighty group of of volunteers collected donations from Merritt and Kamloops, created a Facebook group connecting people and supply requests and did outreach to companies that were willing to donate or offer a discount on purchases. A list of supply requests was compiled and inventoried so individuals requests could be met and additional items that were donated could be given away to anyone that would need them.
Volunteers travelled to Lytton on September 28th during the annual Lytton River Festival and had a table of free art supplies to give away. In addition we were able to deliver supplies to displaced Lytton residents in Merritt as well. Over 30 individuals had requested some art supplies from fabrics, needles, wool and painting supplies. It was a rewarding experience to connect people, hear their stories and provide them with materials to reconnect with their art.
