Two seperate free public art making events were offered to the Fernie community through partnerships with the Fernie Arts Station, Fernie Visual Art Guild and Fernie Museum. This entailed creating to the themes of Nature what Inspires you and Adventures in Tie Dying. Both events were held outside under a tent that provided much needed shade.
NSG grant money provided funding for art supplies that included: paper, t-shirts, bandannas, tie dye kits, cord. Together, families and community members of all ages enjoyed making art projects like: painting, drawing, assembling and tie dying. Volunteers and staff from the community supported the event through social media and group support.
The tie dye experience brought about much fun and excitement as over 200 people came that day to participate in creative adventures with tie dye. Offering art making at community events brings people together to create and share experiences that encourages community engagement.
