My name is Breezie, I am originally from Manitoba and wanted to bring my teachings and skill sharing to WestBank .
My project idea was originally to cook the traditional way, with a cooking fire outside and the bannock on a stick. I also planned to collaborate with another project leader but due to the fire ban I had to change my project idea.
Despite this, the event turned out great, with a good amount of youth and adults attending. They were provided with my teachings, a recipe and history of bannock, which was handed out for each guest to take home. Participants washed their hands and we started learning hands on. Everyone took bannock home when the event was done.
What I learned is to always have another plan in place because weather conditions can be unpredictable.
