On Sunday afternoon on February 21, 2016 we held a Basil Avenue social event to get to know our neighbours as well as to inform individuals how to keep their homes and their community safer. Unfortunately, Victoria Police dept. were unable to attend, but we did have an individual from Pladdin Security make a presentation. It was very informative and a good question and answer period followed the presentation.
Pizza, salad and beverages were supplied. Approximately 35 neighbours attended the event and the response was very positive.
We also received grant money to make signs for Basil Avenue asking motorist to slow down. Basil Avenue is used as a cut through to Cook street. We have kids and pets that cross the street regularly. We are hoping the signs will help and ensure people slow down. The making of the signs involved hand prints of the kids from the neighbourhood.
