At the end of Basil Avenue were 3 ugly cement barriers. We wanted to paint them and plant some veggies or flowers in them thus improving their appearance. To celebrate a block party would also be held. On August 28 we held our block party. Although it did rain that day, we still had about 40 neighbours show up. Tents, a fire pit & outdoor games made the rain not so bad. We had various neighbours helping out with the painting of the planters and received numerous compliments from various folks.
Basil Avenue is used by many, as it is part of the bike route and easier access to Hillside. Now people notice the artsy planters and a smile appears on their face. Thanks for the grant money!
