Beyond the Harvest Fall Fair was held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Sechelt Public Library from 11am to 2 pm. Over 70 household came to the fall fair and they learned more about food security with live displays of micro greens and sprouts. Most of them took home some winter vegetable seedlings which we grew from local seed and handed out. They also learned how to clean seeds with the Sunshine Coast Seed Saving Collective outside of the library with seed cleaners, screens and a winnower.
Gardeners brought in exhibits for a sunflower draw, as well vegetables, fruits, and flowers which were judged. There were several prizes handed out which several local business donated to the fall fair. The local newspaper supported the fall fair with articles before and after the event as well.
Many of the volunteers that helped to make this fair happen are looking forward to having another one next year. It is definitely been a success and has touched the community in many ways.
