We received 2 grants this year, the Greenest City Neighbourhood grant and also the Neighbourhood Small grant. For the Greenest City grant we purchased 10 rain barrels through the City of Vancouver and gave them away at our Block Watch party. Our Block Watch Co – Captain Mr. Richard Woo demonstrated to how to install and use the rain barrels. For the Neighbourhood grant we purchased 15 X 72 hour Emergency kits which we raffled off also at the block watch party. It gave us an opportunity to start a conversation about how we could work together as a neighbourhood to plan for a disaster and be prepared. Everybody was very happy with the supplies and gave us lots of opportunities to discuss how to plan and build upon our goals as a neighbourhood for both the environment and for disaster planning.
