Book Luck event was held at Brighouse Branch Plaza, Richmond Public Library on the shiny afternoon of July 23, 2016. The event was initiated and presented by Vanessa Cai and Puja Bhatia. Richmond Public Library – Brighouse Branch was our major partner and DavidsTea provided us in-kind sponsorship.
There were 57 participants who registered on site, some passers-by and 15 staff & volunteers on site. In the event, people enjoyed talk and refreshments, exchanged books, shared the interest of reading books, knew more about what the public library could offer them, and got new friends. The event was recognized by the participants, the library and the community.
Book Luck Event aims to arouse family’s attention to public library resources, meanwhile to invite our neighbours to get together, know more about each other, thus strengthen community connections.
The event was funded by Neighbourhood Small Grants – Vancouver Foundation and Richmond Cares Richmond Gives. Neighbourhood Small Grants is Vancouver Foundation’s unique program to help build community and strengthen connections right where we live. As new immigrants, we are honoured to have the opportunity being engaged in our community.
