Thank you, NSG! The visioning workshop for our proposed Brentwood Park Community Learning Garden was a great success despite the rain! About 40 community members joined us under the cedars to talk about what this garden could be for the community. We heard so many wonderful ideas – food security, Indigenous food systems, all-season crops, kids garden, Huggelkulture, rain gardens, pollinator gardens, accessible programming, gathering spaces, experimentation, art, sharing, outreach…We walked the site and tested the soil.
All participants contributed a vegetable that was significant to their family traditions, and we made stone soup. Perfect for such a rainy day. The kids created collages and art, capturing their ideas and visions. We are now working on site plans, integrating everyone’s ideas and will share these next steps with the community in the fall.
Thank you
