This years annual community block party was a success. We had approx. 60 people attend this years event.
We provided hotdogs and burgers, drinks and treats for kids and had many neighbours bring a dish of their culture to share.
2 police officers came out to meet the community and discuss some crime prevention tips. A few neighbours shared a talent such as quilting, Geocaching, Fly tying, Guitar and home made chalk paint. This talent sharing was a hit as it got people mingling and getting to know one another by talking about interests. The purple Pirate did a fantastic job entertaining both adults and children. Steve Mathison and band did a great job jamming for us.
Having the police attend, sharing talents and advertising the party in multiple languages surely helped people to feel they were invited. Thank you Richmond Care Richmond Gives and Vancouver Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants program for helping to make this years community building block party a success.
