To all the senior caregivers out there, you are much appreciated for your caring kindness. Since I was the caregiver for my late 94 year old mother for more or less 20 years, from my firsthand experiences , I totally understand that caring for an elderly senior , especially with health issues, can be a demanding and stressful job. The senior caregivers deserve to be recognized and appreciated. Thanks to the financial support of the Neighbourhood Small Grants, I was able to organize this Caregiver Appreciation Party with help from the Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House where I volunteer. I am so thankful that they allowed me to use their boardroom to hold the party, and helped with sending out invitations to all the senior caregivers. I also would like to thank my 17 year-old son Benjamin for helping me with the party poster design and my older son Dominick for his assistance with the food planning. This was my first time applying for the Neighbourhood Small Grants and was very surprised by how quickly my application got approved. My application was approved on Sept 26, and the Caregiver Appreciation party was hosted on October 17. During the 2 hour event, caregivers were able to mingle, socialize, connect and share experiences with each others. With the financial support of the grant, I was able to buy plenty of foods, drinks, a cake, and Tim Horton Gift cards with “Thank You” cards for each and every participant. The senior caregivers deserve a coffee break. Everyone at the party was very happy. Big heartfelt “Thank You” to the Neighbourhood Small Grants for making the Caregiver Appreciation Party financially possible ❤️!
