Our Celebrating Canada & Community Project (Loon Lake, BC) aimed to bring the local community together via art!

We established a free community art committee to engage our seniors and local residents to enhance community involvement & encourage Canadian spirit.  With the Neighbourhood Small Grant funds we were able to secure work space at our local community hall, advertise art committee get togethers, purchase supplies for our project and transport/deliver our art for display around the community.

Magic certainly happened as neighbours connected, friendships were made and our community became more welcoming.  This helped tackle social isolation by engaging our seniors (many of whom are on their own) and giving them a safe space to connect.  Our beautiful art pieces were donated & distributed throughout the community for everyone to enjoy.  We had tremendous feedback from the community at large and our participation numbers tripled!  We learned that engaging our seniors so they are not isolated is crucial in small rural communities.

We want to thank Neighbourhood Small Grants for this wonderful opportunity to showcase our local talent and what we have been able to achieve with the funds.
