The project went well! Packages were well received.
At the beginning of the project I utilized Facebook community groups in the Tricities to request for nominations of birthday/milestone celebrants. From the submissions I narrowed down celebrants to 3 per month. Each celebrant received a local handmade greeting card, purchased individually packaged baked treat as well as a goodie (flower seeds or stuffy).
The drop-offs were the trickiest as I dropped off with my 15 month old. But all was done safely with gloves/masks/wipes.
The most touching aspect of this project was receiving the nominations. The individuals were selected based on socio-economic needs. One adopted 3 year old didn’t get a birthday last year and this year his adopted mom wanted to do something special but had no means. Another was a new mom going through financial issues.
