Our project was a complete success! We had wonderful attendance at each gathering with a wide diversity of ages, races, and experience levels. Many attendees came frequently, some once. We had a tremendous amount of equipment and fibre donated by members of the Black Creek Spinners, a local fibre arts group. All attendees were given free materials to learn with and keep. We have seen at least three attendees go from absolute beginners to competent knitters and spinners, having finished sweaters and other clothing items using donated goods. Many others returned several times with keen interest and obvious skill-building progress. This was so satisfying for all the folks (at least 10) who volunteered their time to teach attendees fibre art skills. We intend to continue offering this program every month at the Courtenay Library on the 2nd Thursday. Thanks so much for the grant to help us complete this project.
