The workshop went great and the turnout was double what I expected! Learning to DJ can be very overwhelming so I tried to manage that by having pre-prepared songs, with cue points set up for people to practice with. This worked really well and gave people a clear starting point. I found that poster advertising was the most effective compared to Facebook. It was an all ages, drop in workshop which worked pretty well, but had some challenges. To be able to spend more time with each participant I would consider asking people to sing up for time slots, although this has the downside of being less flexible. I think I would also split the day into two groups – children and adults. The kids really just want to play around with the sliders and do some scratching! All in all, it was a great day and I would definitely do them again.
