I want to tell you that the Celebration on May 10, 2025, of the NEW fenced-in Bark Park Dog Pawty went so unexpectedly amazing!
The Celebration of the new Dog Park was an idea that came about by us dog lovers chatting about the park and how great it was to have the fenced area for doggie meet and greet play time, and for the vacationing folks with their dogs to enjoy.
Our first meeting was to gather our ideas on what activities would be appropriate for the celebration. 2 out of 9 activities – one to fill a child’s wading pool with water and dog treats, and then watch the dogs jump in after them, and have a Hot Dog BBQ, but then one main concern came up! My dog
was, and a few others were very treat-oriented, so those ideas were quickly forgotten. There was also concern for liabilities that we found out were covered by the regional district where the park is located 🙂
We thought that with a few helping hands from our husbands and friends, it would be an easy task to complete, and it was! With more help from friends who wanted to volunteer to set up the activities.
With no previous experience or idea of how many dogs might come, we had the poster design donated by a dog lover, a cake for the humans, and 200 homemade dog treats with 50 neck scarves in a dog treat bag as a thank you for coming out to the Dog Pawty Celebration.
We had 35 dogs, and their people joined us that morning with smiles galore to brighten the day. There was not one dog incident happened, the humans were excited with the Participation Awards of the activity the dog joined in and the joy of the day still makes me smile 🙂
