I am very grateful to the Vancouver Foundation Neighbourhood Small Grants for allowing me to purchase some much needed equipment for the in-patient ward of the local hospital. I work at the attached long-term care facility, and have on occasion experienced the staff of the hospital coming to us to ask to borrow some activity equipment for the patients who are growing bored. This happened again in the winter of this year. When I asked what they already had, they shared that they had no activity supplies presently. Having been a recipient of the Neighbourhood Small Grant before, I thought that this could be an excellent way to acquire some equipment for them. I am happy to report that I was able to supply them with a Bluetooth compatible cd/radio player and three digital reality orientation clocks. I also learned that the hospital staff secured funding from another source and bought additional activity equipment for their patients, so they now have a variety of things to enjoy!
