The Roaming Deer of New Westminster is a series of public murals inspired by the deer that freely roamed the place we call home. The deer is considered to be a symbol of gentleness. The murals are a daily reminder for us to take care of each other and our environment. The deer are also messengers for public art.
The goal is to paint a Roaming Deer in each neighbourhood of New Westminster. Walking tours will be encouraged for residents to explore and visit different neighbourhoods in hopes of having their own deer sighting.
The Roaming Deer mural project is developed by New Westminster artist Cliff Blank. He would like to thank the generous support from the Vancouver Foundation Neighbourhood Small Grants program.
