For our neighbourhood (South Slough area of Richmond, BC) project we bought six fruit trees – three apple and three pear trees and one hazelnut tree. Neighbours came and got the tree they wanted and planted it. Our goal is to grow food to ensure food security. In the coming years, the apples, pears and nuts we don’t consume we’ll give to the local Food Bank. This ensures we have fruit for the community for many years to come. Everyone in our neighbourhood loved this project and is very grateful for the funding.
